Recently, news of technological innovation has emerged in the field of high-end valve manufacturing in China. An industrial technology enterprise has successfully achieved micron-level processing of the core components of stainless steel valves by optimizing the CNC (Computer Numerical Control) milling process, elevating the traditional manufacturing precision to a new height. This technological breakthrough not only solves the problem of processing complex curved surfaces but also promotes the equipment upgrading in heavy industrial sectors such as petroleum and chemical engineering. According to the technical director of the enterprise, this innovation focuses on the design of the fluid channels of stainless steel valves. Through 3D modeling and CNC program optimization, a five-axis联动 CNC machine tool has achieved continuous milling of the internal spiral flow channels of the valve body, with the surface roughness reaching Ra0.4μm, which is 60% higher than the industry standard. "The traditional process requires multiple clamping and adjustment operations. However, the CNC milling process, through the one-time forming technology, not only ensures the smoothness of the flow channel but also avoids dimensional errors caused by manual operations." When an engineer demonstrated on-site, the machine tool was efficiently processing a valve body with a diameter of 800mm. The cutting fluid spraying system, in conjunction with ceramic cutting tools, easily handled the high-hardness stainless steel material. As a key piece of equipment, this stainless steel valve will be applied to the ultra-low temperature working conditions of a coastal LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) receiving station. The project side stated that the application of the new technology has increased the sealing performance of the valve by 35%, and the indicators of resistance to high temperature and high pressure have exceeded the international certification standards. "The perfect tool marks left by CNC milling are just like carving works of art on metal." The on-site quality inspector showed the valve body inspection report scanned by blue light, and its concentricity error of 0.01mm has attracted the attention of the industry. In the enterprise's workshop, 20 CNC machine tools equipped with intelligent monitoring systems are operating day and night. Through the Internet of Things (IoT) technology, production data is transmitted to the cloud in real time, and the AI algorithm automatically adjusts the cutting parameters. "From the input of raw materials to the delivery of finished products, the whole process is digitally controlled." The production supervisor pointed to the electronic display board and introduced that the new technology has shortened the single-piece processing cycle by 40%, reduced the tool wear by 28%, and the annual production capacity has exceeded 150,000 pieces. With the in-depth advancement of Industry 4.0, the CNC milling technology is reshaping the traditional manufacturing industry. The person in charge of the enterprise stated that the next step will be to deepen the integration of industrial big data and flexible manufacturing, explore personalized customization services for stainless steel valves, and enable precision manufacturing to better serve the major strategic needs of the country.
